But everything was just so sweet because it was narrated by the Goddess of Love. I felt like everything was going so fast and I was like, seriously? They just met hours ago and James was going to the Front. She did nothing but threw him a piece of paper which had the place and time for the their first date tomorrow :v I smiled like a fool at that point of the story. Right after that James went looking for Hazel's apartment and caught her looking down the street from her window. They danced, they had a small talk and Hazel gave James a kiss on his cheek (Hazel was supposed to be shy, according to the author :v). James and Hazel loved each other at first sight, which made the story a very sappy romance. It is narrated by the Greek Gods, mostly Aphrodite, who witnessed the love story of the 2 couples during World War I. But there's still a subtle impression of softness, sweetness and longing whenever I think about this book. It's been a while since I finished reading this book so my emotions about it are no longer fresh and intense. I don't want to miss any details so I will save Colette and Aubrey and other stuffs for later.
